ENVIRONMENTAL
IT business generally has an unavoidable effect on the environment. Our aim is to reduce the negative impacts, continuously improving our practices for the long-term sustainability of our business, communities and environment.
Energy is our key environmental focus as we continue to deliver the Energy Saving Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) recommended energy management plan. Every year we are working harder to reduce our overall consumption and CO2 emissions.
We apply a creative, innovative approach to the task. For example, we have developed the PTCG Green Cabin – a site office with significantly improved energy performance, water management and welfare features.
We work with our supply chain to increase reuse and recycling, reduce waste to landfill, manage energy consumption and performance, and reduce carbon emissions and water consumption. We set ourselves challenging targets, such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2020.
We select materials and equipment which have minimal environmental impact, favouring products with higher proportions of recycled materials and those that comply with responsible, certified sourcing schemes.
SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
SOCIAL
Our People
People are our greatest asset. We prove this by creating a safe, progressive and challenging environment in which our people are able to fulfil their potential.
We focus on sustainable jobs, analysing future work trends to ensure continuity of employment and development of relevant skill sets.
At PTCG we recognise that everyone is an individual, unique and different, each possessing their own personality, background, appearance and abilities. We commit to equality of opportunity and fair treatment of all current and potential employees and encourage job applications from all.
The Community
We encourage our teams to proactively contribute to the communities in which they work. It is one of the key commitments in our manifesto.
We reach out to the communities where we work, promoting good relationships and helping to build understanding of our work and goals. Our Open Doors events, for example, encourage schoolchildren and other residents to come to our sites and engage with our projects.
